DrupalCon Chicago is now accepting proposals for sessions! This news from the DrupalCon website:

Session submission for DrupalCon Chicago is now open and we are looking for another fantastic round of sessions! If you have a session in mind, get it submitted soon as the deadline is just weeks away. For DrupalCon Chicago the session programming is happening a little differently than past DrupalCons. So, whether you're thinking of submitting for the first time or if you’re a DrupalCon regular, there are some session ins and outs worth perusing:

Initial Round of Speakers

How are there already selected sessions when session submission just opened? Before public session submission opened there was a round of sessions selection. This is a DrupalCon first.

There are some speakers who are really popular. They are either popular speakers at conferences at large or speakers who are the most popular at DrupalCon. One of our goals for this DrupalCon was to provide for a greater opportunity for the long tail of sessions to be voted on. So, we went to these popular speakers first and got their sessions taken care of.

Compensation

DrupalCon Chicago has another first. Selected speakers will be get $100 USD off the lowest ticket price, admission to a speakers reception with dinner and drinks, and a pass to the opening night after-party. For those of you who are coming on a ticket that's part of a sponsor package the $100 will be put towards DrupalCon scholarships.

This means that if you are submitting a session you should wait to purchase a ticket to DrupalCon until after December 31. Accepted session speakers will get special instructions on how to get the discounted price. Selection will happen right at the end of this year so you won’t have to wait long.

Session Timeline

Session submissions are all due December 10th. Up until that time speakers will have the ability to edit their session details. This is a window of just over a month to get session submitted, so if you have an idea for a session the time to submit it is now! Once the sessions are all in, voting will begin and run until December 24th. Voting is happening after all submissions have been submitted in order to give each session an equal opportunity to get voted on. This will be followed by the full roster of speakers and sessions being announced on December 31st.

For more details about the speaking at DrupalCon Chicago see the Speaker FAQ. Or, if you have a great idea for a session submit it.
